Yerevan - Odzun - Sanahin - Haghpat - Zarni Parni - Yerevan
Have you decided to escape the bustle of the city and plunge into the silence of natural nature?
Then you need to go to Lori, because here you will find the pristine nature of the Debed River gorge, ancient temples from the UNESCO list, shrouded in the wisdom of centuries; and the revived fortress-cave Zarni Parni.
And now everything in order.
In the morning we leave Yerevan and head to the Lori region, one of the most picturesque regions of the country, with its own special features, its rich forest and mountain landscapes, rocky canyons and cozy villages surrounding the canyon. The entire road will give you the opportunity to enjoy the gorgeous nature of the region.
Our first stop is in the village of Odzun, where in the very center is the Odzun Monastery - a majestic monument of the 6th century, which has been perfectly preserved largely due to several reconstructions and restorations. After visiting the Odzun Monastery, we go to the "brother monasteries" of Sanahin and Haghpat, which are included in the UNESCO cultural heritage list - monuments of Armenian architecture, church complexes of the 10th-13th centuries.
Sanahin Monastery is a monument of Armenian architecture, one of the main medieval cultural centers of Northern Armenia. Under Sanahin, there was a scriptorium where books were copied, a library and an academy.
Haghpat Monastery, founded in 976 under Ashot III the Merciful, is an active monastery in the village of Haghpat of the same name, located on a small plateau surrounded by gorges. Haghpat Monastery is a significant monument of urban development in medieval Armenia.
Standing on the edge of the gorge near Haghpat Monastery, you will feel yourself torn away from earthly problems and vanity. Take a deep breath of the purest mountain air! The last stop of our tour will be at the Zarni-Parni cave fortress, which, like a phoenix, has risen from the ashes. Stopping at the iron warrior who shows the route, we will walk to the cave-fortress complex. Just look around - and you will see lush nature! Just listen - and you will hear the beautiful singing of birds!
"Zarni-Parni" offers you many activities. In the center of the hall, you can sit on stumps with soft overhead seats around the pit, light a fire and dissolve in the atmosphere of past centuries. Or spend time in the cave by torchlight and to the sounds of water dripping from the dome and goldfish splashing in a man-made stone pond. You can shoot a bow, a crossbow, play darts, and most importantly - feel the spirit of history and romance.
The culmination of the tour can be lunch with wine from the winery in the restaurant of the Zarni-Parni complex.
Duration of the excursion is 7 - 8 hours
