A trip to Armenia is impossible without exploring the Garni Temple and Zvartnots Temple—two gems where history comes alive.
Garni is the only pagan temple remaining in Armenia. Built in the 1st century CE by King Tiridates I, it is dedicated to the sun god Mihr. Garni impresses with its harmonious proportions, views of the Azat Gorge, and the "Symphony of Stones"—a natural wonder of basalt columns. This is a place where you can feel the breath of antiquity and the power of the sun, which still fills the surrounding space today.
Zvartnots, which means "temple of angels," was built in the 7th century and was considered one of the most beautiful structures of its time. Today, only ruins remain, but even these are striking in their grandeur—the columns, fragments of bas-reliefs, and the outline of the enormous dome seem to hold the secret of Armenia's ancient architecture and spiritual power.
A visit to Garni and Zvartnots is a journey through millennia, where each stone slab tells the story of faith, art, and the spirit of the people.
