Pulpulaks are small outdoor drinking fountains found in almost every Armenian town and village. They appeared in the 20th century and quickly became an integral part of Armenian culture.
Drinking from a pulpulak is a way to embrace the tradition of generosity: water has always been considered a sacred gift in Armenia, and giving a drink to a passerby a good deed. Each pulpulak has its own story—many are built in memory of loved ones, as a sign of gratitude, or as a blessing to all travelers.
Today, pulpulaks not only quench thirst but also decorate streets, becoming a symbol of Armenia's living soul.
